passion of life

i had night swimming lesson today!! let me recap what we had done. 6 laps of breaststroke, 4 freestlyes and 4 laps of rescue backstroke. then, lao shi taught us how to swim rescue sidestroke [it's also called the scissors sidestroke]. it looks funny and all of us don't know why we had to learn such weird strokes. LOL. after that, we went to learn the theory part of life-saving.

the dangers in the swimming pools or indoors

~ depth of the pool
~ water slides
~ jacuzzi pump

TYPES OF RESCUES
~ Throwing rescue [ropes][15 metres]
victim: help! help!
rescuer: keep your head up!
Rescuer then takes a long rope and coil it while still holding on to the 'head' of the rope. after that, the rescuer will throw the rope towards the victim. the victim catches and hold on to it. the rescuer then pulls the victim to safety and bring her to safety. while the rescuer is pulling the ropes, the victim can lay on her back or face forward.

victim: help! help!
rescuer: keep your head up!
the rescuer then jumps into the water and swims towards the victim. when the rescuer is approaching, the former will ask the latter to lay on her back. the rescuer will have a float to give the victim some support. furthermore, the rescuer will hold up the victim's chin and support her back to keep her from drinking the water. the rescuer will use backstroke to bring her to the edge of the pool. finally, help the victim up.

i partnered kai ning today. it was fun and i made some friends too! (:

in the morning, i had band in school. we were almost finished with the choice piece and we sight-read two more pieces of songs for our upcoming concert next year. they are DISNEY SPECTACULAR and I COULD HAVE DANCED ALL NIGHT. my sight-reading had improved tremendously and proud to say, i was playing the mallet parts as im not good at it before!! yay!!

the whole family will be going to Ipoh, malaysia tomorrow till next monday to attend my cousin's wedding. it's a 10 hour ride from singapore to ipoh. thus, im unable to arrive in singapore on monday morning to go for band. band camp is coming up and we have to prepare for the marching video and sec 1 orientation. oh!! 2006 is ending soon!! 2007 is arriving. important year*exclamation marks!!!*
